About the Academy
The After Constantine Academy is a scholarly academy and seminar series in Byzantine and late antique studies. Its central concern is the world that came into being after Constantine — a millennium of Christian empire, contested piety, and quiet civic invention that has too often been read as a coda to something else.
The seminars are small by design. Each is taught by a working scholar whose own research is the subject of the class, and each meets over a term of six sessions with a rigorous reading list. There is no video library, no gamified progress bar, and no attempt to make the material more palatable than it is.
What we offer instead is a quiet place for serious reading, in the company of people who take it seriously too.
